Types Of Printing

Standard Plastisol

Plastisol ink is the most common solution in the industry. Plastisol inks are the easiest material to store and set-up, contributing to a lower cost. These types of inks work well on natural fibers as well as synthetics and allow for the most consistent color-matching possible. You will find this type of print will tend to have a heavier “hand”. This means the print is slightly raised from the material and will be felt more than water-based printing.

Water Based

Water-based inks are the softest prints possible. This creates a fashion-forward and very comfortable garment. You may find you can’t feel the print at all! Discharge additives are added on dark color clothing to first pull out the garment dye, then add in your design ink colors. Water based is a little more expensive due to the increased labor involved and doesn’t lend itself to color matching. Some things to consider when choosing your printing method.

Simulated Process

Simulated process printing utilizes several layers of halftone dots to create a full color image. Jobs of this nature usually take somewhere from 5-8 screens for most full color designs. These prints tend to have a lighter hand-feel than standard spot-color printing.

Simulated Process

CMYK

Similar to Simulated process, CMYK printing uses four screens on light or white fabric to create the illusion of full color printing. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black are layered with varying halftones in this case. This provides a cost-effective solution for more colorful prints, works best with illustration-style artwork as opposed to photo-realistic designs.

Metallic and Glitter

Metallic and Glitter prints use tiny flakes of metallic particles to create a shimmer effect. Popular colors are gold and silver. If you need a specific color we can layer glitter ink over a standard ink color for a unique effect. Note that glitter inks are very dense so it is best to avoid fine details in your design.
